Nominations for the 71st annual Golden Globe Awards were announced early Thursday. American Hustle and 12 Years a Slave lead the list of 2014 nominees — a precursor of what to expect on Oscar night — each earning seven noms each.Breaking Bad, The Good Wife and Behind The Candelabra, HBO’s made-for-TV Liberace biopic, nabbed the tops spots in the television category.
Noticeably absent from the list of nominees are Lee Daniel’s The Butler,Homeland and the HBO hit Game of Thrones.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will once again host the annual ceremony, airing live on NBC Sunday, January 12. But it looks like it will be Chiwetel Ejiofor’s night; the 12 Years a Slave star has scored nominations in both the Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television as well as Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture Drama categories.
