Other than her carefully constructed mea culpa after insulting Zendaya Coleman, Giuliana Rancic has remained mum in the days following her racism scandal.

But the embattled E! News anchor and Fashion Police panelist, 40, will soon spill everything about her life in a new tell-all, RadarOnline.com can report.

Rancic’s memoir, Going Off Script: How I Survived a Crazy Childhood, Cancer, and Clooney’s 32 On-Screen Rejections will be released on April 7, 2015, according to Crown Publishing Group’s Crown Archetype.

Though the breast cancer survivor and mother of one had a
squeaky-clean reputation before claiming Disney actress Coleman smelled
like “weed” or “patchouli oil,” it seems she secretly was a teen rebel.

“What fans may not know is that she…used to have a bad habit of stealing cars for fun,” the book’s press release reveals.

Publishers promise the autobiography will prove “you don’t always
have to follow the rules to get the life you’ve always dreamed of.

E! News anchor Giuliana Rancic has apologized for offending Zendaya Coleman during a now infamous exchange about the former Disney star's dreadlocks during an episode of Fashion Police. But now the scandal has a new wrinkle: It turns out that the network host's comments were not actually aired in full.

In a clip viewed by PEOPLE, the Fashion Police panel is seen discussing Zendaya's red-carpet look.
Rancic begins her critique by saying she admires Zendaya's fashion
sense but finds her long locks "really heavy – it overwhelms her, and
it's just too boho." The anchor then makes peace-sign symbols and goes on to say that "Zendaya is more high-fashion. The hair to me on her is making her a little more boho. Like I feel like she smells like patchouli oil. Or weed."

But in the clip that eventually aired, Rancic's comments about Zendaya's neo-hippie look – which an E! insider who is supportive of the host says were scripted by one of the show's writers – do not appear. Instead, only Rancic's early comments and the cracks about patchouli and marijuana are heard. Contrary to some reports, multiple sources confirm the panel filmed the discussion of Zendaya's outfit only once.

The insider says the joke initially included a line about
Zendaya following the Grateful Dead, but that part didn't make it on the
air. "She just thought it was a joke about hippies," says the insider.

After Zendaya took offense, Rancic apologized both on air and on
Twitter, writing, "Dear @Zendaya, I'm sorry I offended you and others. I was referring to a bohemian chic look. Had NOTHING to do with race and NEVER would!!!"

Zendaya accepted the mea culpa, but sources say Rancic feels
that the situation was made worse because her comments were truncated. Says the insider: "If you see what she actually said, it's clear she wasn't making a racial joke."

But it's also true that the E! incident touches a deep nerve in
American life. While some viewers saw the Zendaya comments as harmless,
others, many of them African American, took offense. The differences may have a lot to do with cultural perspective.
A comment about patchouli may evoke hippies to some, but "there's a
long history of racist comments about black people in terms of how they
smell," says Jeffrey C. Stewart, chair of the Department of Black
Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, who reviewed the
sequence.

Stewart adds that the flap over Zendaya's hairstyle trips
sensitivities about the way African-American hair has been stigmatized
in the past.
"If a look is easily appropriated by whites, then it's acceptable, but
if it's not easily appropriated, then it is seen as unalterably 'other,'
" Stewart says.
Some viewers "don't see this person as bohemian or hippie [because]
hippies don't dress in formal attire or have their hair meticulously
arranged."

Friends say Rancic, who called the episode "a learning experience," regrets any hurt she may have caused. "Giuliana accepts responsibility for what happened," says a source close to the situation. "She was educated about the sensitivities here and doesn't make excuses for it."

Did Kelly Osbourne Quit "Fashion Police" Because Of Guiliana Rancic?

Kelly Osbourne, Fashion Police
E! has announced that Kelly Osbourne is departing Fashion Police, the network’s red-carpet review show.

“Kelly Osbourne is departing E!s Fashion Police to pursue
other opportunities, and we would like to thank her for her many
contributions to the series over the past five years, during which time
the show became a hit with viewers,” E! Entertainment said in a
statement Friday.
Related: Kathy Griffin Replaces Joan Rivers on Fashion Police
Fashion Police will be back on March 30 scheduled, but there’s been no decisions on Osbourne’s replacement.
The show returned in January after the death of Joan Rivers, but
longtime viewers complained the chemistry was off: Kathy Griffin, the
heir apparent to Joan’s throne, came off too felicitous.

fashion police
That left Giuliana Rancic to pull out the knives.
Joan could get away with politically incorrect remarks—she shit on everyone, after all. But at the 2015 Oscars, when Guiliana joked that Zendaya’s dreadlocks probably “smells like patchouli oil or weed,” the public cried foul.
Osbourne spoke out against the incident and, in a tweet, threatened to leave the show.

Screen Shot 2015-02-27 at 9.21.30 PM
Eventually Rancic made an apology, which Osbourne seemed to accept

But a day later she was out the door.
TMZ reports Osbourne’s unhappiness with being on FP predates the Zendaya incident, citing tension on the set since the first episode following Joan died.
Maybe the show musn’t go on?

Kelly Osbourne Warned Giuliana About Zendaya Comment on Fashion Police

Giuliana Rancic and Kelly Osbourne
Kelly
Osbourne warned Giuliana Rancic during Fashion Police's Oscars taping
that her Zendaya comments could create trouble, a source exclusively
reveals to Us Weekly -- find out what really happened on the set, where
the controversial segment was shot for three takes.

UPDATE: An E! rep denies that there were multiple
takes, saying, "There was only one take of Giuliana's comments. Kelly
did let the group know Zendaya is a friend of hers."

Should've listened. While Zendaya has publicly forgiven Giuliana Rancic for her comments about her dreadlocks, Us Weekly can exclusively reveal that the E! News host could have avoided the entire fiasco, had she listened to her co-host Kelly Osbourne.

A source from the set of Fashion Police tells Us
that the taping -- which took place the day after the Oscars on Monday,
Feb. 23 -- was halted and re-done multiple times due to the sensitive
nature of Rancic's comments, which were called into question by
Osbourne.

PHOTOS: Celebs fight back on Twitter

"They did the Zendaya segment three times," the insider tells Us.
"Three different takes. On the first two takes, Kelly said 'Guys, we
can’t say this. Zendaya is a friend of the show.'" (Indeed, Zendaya has
previously appeared on Fashion Police more than once. Osbourne,
meanwhile, tweeted publicly about her friendship with the Disney star
after Rancic was called out for her comments.)

Despite Osbourne's protests, the source tells Us
that producers went ahead with the third and final take. "Giuliana said
the words 'patchouli oil' and 'weed' three times," the insider recalls,
in front of an audience of about 30 people. "They all heard the three
takes," the source tells Us.

PHOTOS: The biggest celeb flubs on live TV

On the Feb. 23 Oscars episode, which aired Monday night, Rancic made
fun of Zendaya's long dreadlocks on the red carpet. "I feel like she
smells like pachouli oil," Rancic remarked, as the cameras cut away to a
photo of the Disney darling's look. Then a voice -- which the source
has now identified as Rancic -- chimed in: "Or weed!"

Credit: Steve Granitz/WireImage
Zendaya responded on Tuesday and called out Rancic in a Twitter post, which has since been applauded by the likes of Solange, Kerry Washington, Viola Davis, and Khloe Kardashian.
"To say that an 18 year old young woman with locs must smell of
patchouli oil or 'weed' is not only a large stereotype but outrageously
offensive," Zendaya wrote.

PHOTOS: The biggest celeb feuds ever

Osbourne, meanwhile, chimed in on the matter via social media on Tuesday, saying she and Zendaya were pals.

PHOTOS: Joan Rivers rates her biggest fashion disasters

The source tells Us that while Osbourne is friends
with Rancic, the rock scion did not agree with her co-host's comments.
"Kelly respects Giuliana and knows she didn't intend the comment to be
racist," the insider explains.

The situation worsened to the point that Rancic had to issue a public apology on Tuesday, Feb. 24, while hosting E! News.
"I’d really like to address something that’s weighing very heavy on my
heart," Rancic said. "I want to apologize for a comment that I made on
last night’s Fashion Police about Zendaya’s hair. Something I said last
night did cross the line. I didn’t intend to hurt anybody, but I’ve
learned it’s not my intent that matters, it’s the result."

On Wednesday, Zendaya accepted Rancic's apology with a lengthy, eloquent explanation
of her own. "Body shaming and other hurtful tactics will never get the
job done," she wrote. "Giuliana, I appreciate your apology and I'm glad
it was a learning experience for you and for the network."

Melissa Rivers Praises Zendaya, Shares Pic of Guest Host With Joan

Though Zendaya Coleman is at the tail end of a controversy with E!'s Fashion Police after co-host Giuliana Rancic's comments about her dreadlocks, the former Disney star, 18, is actually a former friend and guest host of the show.

On Wednesday, Feb. 25, executive producer Melissa Rivers shared a sweet photo of Zendaya sitting on the lap of the show's late host and her mother Joan Rivers.

#TBT We @e_FashionPolice have nothing but love for @Zendaya then and
now. A repeat guest host. #MelRivers #JoanRivers," she captioned the
shot.

The style-centric show has been making headlines ever since Rancic
commented, "I feel like she smells like patchouli oil," and another
voice was heard adding, "Or weed!" as the show's hosts were discussing
Zendaya's dreadlocks on the Oscars red carpet.

The singer and actress shot back with a lengthy Instagram message,
writing, "There is a fine line between what is funny and disrespectful.
To say that an 18 year old young woman with locs must smell of patchouli
oil or ‘weed’ is not only a large stereotype but outrageously
offensive."

Rancic apologized both on Twitter and on camera during a segment of
E! News, saying, "Something I said last night did cross the line. I
didn’t intend to hurt anybody, but I’ve learned it’s not my intent that
matters, it’s the result."

Her co-host Kelly Osbourne,
who had been outspoken about her opposition, tweeting, "I DO NOT
CONDONE RACISM," followed up her strong stance with appreciation for
Rancic's comments.

"It takes a strong women to apologize & makes a forgiving women even stronger! #ThisTooShallPass," she tweeted.

Joan Rivers' replacement, Kathy Griffin,
has yet to publicly comment on the controversy. Rivers passed away
unexpectedly in September 2014 after suffering complications from a
minor throat surgery.

Zendaya: Giuliana Rancic's Comment Is 'Outrageously Offensive'

UPDATE: While it was
originally reported that Kelly Osbourne responded "or weed" to Giuliana
Rancic's controversial critique of Zendaya's hair, Osbourne took to
Twitter to assure fans it wasn't her. "I DID NOT MAKE THE WEED COMENT,"
she tweeted Tuesday (Feb. 24).

Zendaya at the Oscars
E!'s Fashion Police took their criticism on celebrity style too far when discussing Zendaya's look at Sunday's Oscars. The singer/actress rocked dreadlocks and a Vivienne Westwood gown to the 87th annual Academy Awards.

During a post-Oscars episode of E!'s Fashion Police,
Giuliana Rancic offered an offensive comment on Zendaya: "I feel like
she smells like patchouli oil." "Or weed," someone says off-camera,
initially reported to be co-host Kelly Oscourne.

"Maybe weed?" Rancic chimed in.

Zendaya took to social media to respond to Rancic's comments and took
the opportunity to touch on society's ignorance regarding black women's
hair.

"To say that an 18 year old young woman with locs must smell of
patchouli oil or 'weed' is not only a large stereotype but outrageously
offensive," she wrote. "There is already harsh criticism of African
American hair in society without the help of ignorant people who choose
to judge others based on the curl of their hair."

Rancic offered an apology (kind of) to Zendaya on Twitter saying that
she was talking about her "bohemian chic look" and it had "nothing to
do with race." "I'm sorry I offended you and others. I was referring to a
bohemian chic look. Had NOTHING to do with race and NEVER would!!!"

Kelly Osbourne also took to Twitter to address the matter (kind of also) and to alert her followers that "Zendaya is my friend."

Kelly Osbourne -- Giuliana Rancic Better Make It Right with Zendaya ... Or I'll Quit!!

0224-zendya-osbourne-rancic-tmz-02
Kelly Osbourne just dropped an ultimatum on Giuliana Rancic and their "Fashion Police" bosses -- issue a mea culpa for saying Zendaya smells like a hippie pot smoker ... or she'll quit the show.
Kelly is responding to the firestorm Giuliana sparked with a comment about the Disney star's Oscar look -- which included new dreadlocks. Rancic said she thought Zendaya must smell like patchouli oil or weed. Kathy Griffin joined in on the "weed" comment.

022415_zendaya_fashion_po_launch
Kelly
went off on a Twitter rant, saying ... "I'm giving everyone involved 24
hours to make it right or the world will hear how I really feel." She
added she doesn't condone racism and is seriously questioning staying on
the show.
Osbourne reminded fans she's friends with Zendaya -- who herself
blasted Rancic for making such an "outrageously offensive" stereotypical
comment.

It sounds like no one involved is buying Giuliana's claim her remarks "had NOTHING to do with race." update_graphic_red_bar4:30 PM PT-- Looks like Kelly has pull ... Giuliana just apologized again -- this time on the air during "E! News."

GIULIANA Rancic might not be in town for the birth of her first child.

The E! News co-host, 36, and her husband, Bill, 41, will welcome their first child via gestational surrogate in just a few months.

However, Rancic might be in London when her baby comes into the world.

“The baby is due the end of August, and I wrap at the Olympics [in London] on August 11. So we are going to be on standby,” she said on TODAY July 2.

“We think it’s going to be OK,” she added optimistically. “The doctor assured us. He thinks maybe even early September the baby will come.

“It was funny because I told Bill, ‘You realize you can’t play ball with him for awhile?’

“I think he thinks at six months they’re going to be playing catch. I’m like, ‘Honey, that doesn’t happen for a little while.’ He’s like, ‘I was waterskiing at three-years-old.’ I’m like, ‘Slow down, honey!

"Upbeat" Giuliana Rancic Gets Back to Work After Mastectomy Announcement

Media_httpwwwusmagazi_baabd

Monday certainly wasn't just any old day for Giuliana Rancic.

That morning, the E! News hostess and reality star, 37, announced her decision to undergo a double mastectomy later this week. Rancic revealed a breast cancer diagnosis back in October, and the disease was initially treated with a lumpectomy and radiation.

And despite her very emotional appearance (with husband Bill Rancic alongside her) on The Today Show explaining the big news, Rancic didn't call in sick for work.

Later that night, she was back on the job -- meeting Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and other stars on the red carpet for the NYC premiere of In the Land of Blood and Honey, Jolie's intense debut as a director and screenwriter.

According to an onlooker, the radiant Rancic looked "happy and upbeat" chatting with the stars and fans.

"Overall, she's in unbelievably great spirits," a source close to Rancic told Us Weekly. "She's been working a lot. It keeps her motivated."

Giuliana and husband Bill, 40, thanked fans via Twitter late Monday. "Thank u all! Thank u for the outpouring of prayers."

Giuliana Rancic reveals breast cancer diagnosis at 37

Giuliana Rancic had an announcement to make during a Monday morning appearance on The Today Show — but it wasn’t the one she or anyone wanted or expected.

Instead of a happy pregnancy announcement, Rancic, 37, told Ann Curry: “I have early stage breast cancer.” The E! News host and Giuliana and Bill star made the frightening discovery back in August, as she was preparing for her third attempt to get pregnant through in vitro fertilization.

Rancic explained that her doctor sternly insisted that she get a mammogram before going through with the third IVF treatment. (The pregnancy hormones could “accelerate the cancer,” Rancic recalled her doctor as saying.)

The star, who said she has no family history of breast cancer, “wasn’t prepared to get a mammogram until i was 40 years old,” she admitted. “I never in my wildest dreams expected anything to be wrong.”

When the hospital called a few days later to tell her the shocking news, Rancic admits she was immediately “sobbing…It was like the world just crashed around me.”

But a visibly emotional Rancic assured fans, “I will be okay, because I found it early. I’m doing surgery this coming week, and then I go to radiation for six and a half weeks.”

At her side throughout the ordeal is husband Bill Rancic, 40. “Bill is unbelievable,” Rancic gushed. “He lets me cry when I want to cry. He just lets me feel what I want to feel.”

And the spouses of four years are determined to continue in their attempts to conceive once Giuliana’s medical isseus are resolved. “I’m not gonna give up,” she said. When she does get pregnant, “That baby will have saved my life,” she mused. “There’s some master plan. Now I know that [God] was looking out for me.”

She urged all women to get tested for breast cancer. “I think a lot of us think we’re invincible,” she said. “We have to start putting ourselves on the to do list.”
