“Glee” Star Charice Comes Out as Lesbian; Estranged From Family

Glee singing star Charice Pempengco is a lesbian.

The Filipina sensation, 21, made the revelation in an interview Monday with Boy Abunda onThe Buzz. When asked about her sexual orientation, Charice responded:

“Opo, tomboy po ako.”

This translates to:

“Yes, I am a homosexual.”

Charice also admitted that she is currently estranged from her family, who are still struggling to accept her sexuality.

“But to those who can accept me, thank you very much. We are all equal, whether you are gay or straight.”

Charice, christened the girl with the golden pipes, first popped up on the American music scene after appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2008. She eventually caught the eyes (and ears) of Glee producers, who cast her as Sunshine Corazon on the award-winning musical series.
