far down memory lane. The song, “Infinity,” dropped on iTunes, Spotify,
and YouTube tonight and between the corny (like Fritos) lyrics and the
breathy Carey vocal runs, we’re right back in the plaid shirt-wearing,
tire swing-frolicking days of yore. The new song marks a reunion between
Carey and Epic CEO Antonio “L.A.” Reid
who helped put together best-selling album The Emancipation of Mimi.
The compilation album and new single are part of a larger Carey comeback effort that involves a #1 to Infinity show at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Though the initial video for “Infinity” involves some cheesy visuals to
go with the corny lyrics (just some more of that throwback feel, we
assume), Carey will eventually release a more standard video for the
song directed by her longtime friend Brett Ratner. The entire Mariah Carey #1 To Infinity album featuring all 18 of Carey’s number one Billboard hits drops on May 1. The complete track listing (courtesy of Billboard) is below:
