daughter Melissa, the 81-year-old is “resting comfortably,” though she
remains in serious condition.
“The waking-up process has begun and will take until Tuesday,” a source close to the family told the New York Daily News.
“There is real concern that the part of the brain that controls motor
skills may have been compromised, leaving her as either a vegetable or
in a wheelchair.”
Rivers was rushed to the hospital on Thursday after she stopped breathing during surgery on her throat at a clinic. The Daily News reports
that Joan’s family is now considering legal action over the botched
procedure, but Melissa is focused on how her mother may respond.
“We are keeping our fingers crossed,” Melissa said in a statement
Sunday. She thanked fans of her mother for their support and
asked “everyone keep her in your thoughts and prayers.”
