One of the things Filipinos living abroad quickly miss in the
Philippines is Jollibee. I admit missing authentic Jollibee food sourced
and prepared in the Philippines.
However, back in the Philippines there are Jollibee products that I
already miss. These are discontinued products that I wish they would’ve
bring back. These are the products I used to order a lot back in high
school and college freshman years when they use styro a lot and when a
2-pc chickenjoy with rice would only cost you P70. It’s so long ago that
I couldn’t find pictures in Google anymore.
Let’s see if you remember them.
I don’t know if you remember this but Jollibee used to serve chicken
wings coated in their special sweet chili sauce (not the crispy chicken
wings with dip). It’s more sweet than spicy and not your typical
off-the-shelf chili sauce. After frying, they put the wings on a
container and tumble it with the sweet chili sauce. The sauce coats the
wings really well and doesn’t drip so it’s not too messy to eat.
As far as I know Jollibee still sells CrissCut fries in cheese and
barbecue flavor. However, it’s just not the same back in the 90′s. The
cheese flavor now has a tangy/spicy kick unlike the real cheesy flavor
as before. You can also get the CrissCut fries without any powder
coating and it still would be tasty back then, or you could dip it into
their gravy. Mmmm.
sell chicken pork adobo as one of their first rice topping meal and is
only served during lunch (sometimes dinner too depending on stock). The
funny thing here is that the pork/chicken/sauce comes pre-cooked from
the commissary every morning then heated in a pot. And it still tastes
really good when they will start serving it come lunch time.
delivered in the morning pre-cooked. And for some reason, the beef
doesn’t get hard or chewy and tastes freshly cooked at lunch unlike the
occasional Chowking beef brisket. I like this more than CPA although
sometimes I would ask for half CPA and half Beef Stew on top of my rice
(kitchen crew connection at a certain branch) which is also yummy.
If you’ve tried the Peach Mango Pie when it first came out, you will
be really disappointed on what it had become today. Just like how they
shrunk the size of the KFC chicken or the Dunkin Donut, the new Peach
Mango Pie is pathetically small. And because of its small size, it
sucks when those precious filling falls off as you take a bite.
So what food from Jollibee do you miss that they don’t serve anymore?
