As the cloud storage wars continue to heat up, Box unveiled two new features aimed squarely at its business and enterprise customers.
The company announced Tuesday it was rolling out unlimited storage to its business customers and new support for Office 365.
Box has offered plans free of storage restrictions to enterprise customers since 2010, but this would be the first time it opens storage to all of its business customers.
"We've seen some really rapid improvements in storage technology and cost in particular," Heidi Williams, Box's senior director of platform engineering toldMashable. "When you're not worrying about how much each employee is uploading and how much they're storing you can really just focus on all the other collaboration features that Box offers."
The cloud storage company also announced it would be adding Box for Office 365, which will integrate Microsoft's productivity software in three ways: Box for Outlook, Box for Office 2013 and Box Office Online. The Outlook and Office support will roll out first and Office Online will follow.
Box for Outlook will make it easier to share and view attachments by sending files via Box links, while the Office integration will allow users to save Word, Excel and PowerPoint files to Box.
The new storage plans are available to businesses beginning Tuesday, and the Office 365 integration will start rolling out in the fall. Box plans to add integration with Office 365 on the web "in the coming months."
Competition within the cloud storage space is mounting and as the price of storage drops companies are under increasing pressure to keep their offerings competitive. Amazon became the latest company to take aim at the space last week with its new cloud-based document storing and sharing platform Zocalo.
