Lionsgate, the movie studio behind the Hunger Games franchise, has released a statement about the loss of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman , who recently added his acting cred to the films as Plutarch Heavensbee.
That’s game-maker and revolutionary Plutarch Heavensbee to you.
As Lionsgate announced in a statement :
Philip Seymour Hoffman was a singular talent and one of the most gifted actors of our generation. We’re very fortunate that he graced our Hunger Games family. Losing him in his prime is a tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Philip’s family. They also honored PSH on their Twitter account, sending the late Oscar-winner off with the District 12 three-fingered salute.
As for what this means for The Hunger Games franchise — which was in the midst of shooting the second part of Mockingjay, added Lionsgate:
For Part 2, he had about a week left of shooting,Meaning the films are still expected to be able to make their November 21, 2014 and November 20, 2015 release dates.
including one scene that will have to be written with a different
character taking the spot of Plutarch Heavensbee.
Because most of Mr. Hoffman’s scenes were complete, director Francis
Lawrence and his team are said to be confident they can complete filming
without the character or the films being substantially changed.
