"... for now"
Earlier this month the Jonas Brothers appeared in Out magazine to promote their planned new album and tour. Today we learn that plans for the band of brothers have changed because the Jonas Brothers as a band have decided to break-up . The guys went on a hiatus a few years ago so that they could each do their own thing but decided that this year, they’d get back together and make music together again. Shortly before they were due to kick off their new tour, something went down that resulted in an entire cancellation of the tour and today’s announcement that the band is dunzo. Yeah, things don’t sound great in the Jonas family these days.
Nearly three weeks after the Jonas Brothers announced they were canceling their tour due to a “deep rift within the band,” the brothers tell PEOPLE that they’ve decided to call it quits. “It’s over for now,” Kevin Jonas says. “It’s really hard to say ‘forever,’ ” says Nick. “We’re closing a chapter, for sure.” “It was a unanimous decision,” says Joe. It came after a meeting on Oct. 3, where Nick Jonas confessed to his brothers that he had serious concerns about the future of the band. “I was feeling kind of trapped,” he said. “I needed to share my heart with my brothers.”
I can’t say that I have ever been a fan of the Jonas Brothers but it does kind of suck that the guys appear to be going thru something significant if they have decided to break up the band … again. When they went on hiatus, I assumed it was a genuine break up of the band. When they announced they were getting back together, I believed I was wrong all along but … yeah, now I’m not so sure. It’s clear that the guys all want something different from their professional lives and obviously they cannot agree on a way that they can all be happy. Even tho they’re broken up professionally, here’s hoping they can keep things civil as family.
