Wale's "The Gifted" will sell perhaps 150,000 copies in its debut week.
Rapper Wale should earn his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart next week with his new release, "The Gifted." Industry sources forecast the album will sell perhaps 150,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, June 30.
The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, July 3.
It will mark Wale's second top 10, following his last release, 2011's "Ambition," which debuted and peaked at No. 2. That effort launched with 164,000 sold -- according to Nielsen SoundScan -- but was blocked by another debuting album that week: Justin Bieber's "Under the Mistletoe" (with a 210,000 bow).
As Wale will follow Kanye West's current No. 1, "Yeezus," next week will mark the first time we've had back-to-back rap albums atop the chart since late 2011. On the Dec. 3-dated chart, Drake's "Take Care" replaced Mac Miller's "Blue Slide Park" at No. 1.
Other albums aiming for significant debuts on next week's Billboard 200 include Skillet's "Rise" (50,000), India.Arie's "SongVersation" (25,000) and August Burns Red's "Rescue & Restore" (20,000).
