Justin Timberlake has denied calling ex-girlfriend Britney Spears a “b***h”during a pre-Super Bowl gig in New Orleans over the weekend.
After a hiatus from the music scene JT has returned with a brand new album, The 20/20 Experience, set for release next month. On Saturday night, he performed his new single “Suit and Tie” live for the first time at Mark Cuban’s DirecTV Super Bowl Party in the Big Easy. But it was Justin’s apparent stab at the ex that really made headlines.
Timberlake — who wed actress Jessica Biel in November — seemed to throw a barb at Brit while introducing his 2002 hit “Cry Me A River,” the song he wrote about the teenage love affair of pop’s ill-fated “It Couple.” Before performing the Grammy Award-winning track, Justin told the crowd:
“Sometimes in life, you think you found the one. But then one day you find out, that she is just some b***h.”
Ouch.
After news of the perceived diss hit headlines on Sunday, Timberlake hit his Twitter page to dispel any speculation that he was “disrespecting” about Spears. He wrote:
“Ok. I see you. Wouldn’t disrespect ANYONE personally. Ever. #Relax#ItsBritneyBitch I do love that saying though*with accent*”
Justin and Britney, who met as kiddie co-stars on Disney’s ’90s reincarnation of The Mickey Mouse Club, bitterly called time on their three year romance after Spears allegedly did the Sideways Samba with choreographer Wade Robson behind Timberlake’s back. In a July 2011 interview with Vanity Fair magazine, Justin seemed to be beyond any hard feelings about the betrayal:
“…You become adults and the way you were as kids doesn’t make any sense. I won’t speak on her, but at least for me, I was a totally different person…I just don’t think we were normal; there was nothing normal about our existence. We spent way too much time being the biggest thing for teenyboppers. I wish her the best — that goes without saying. We haven’t spoken in nine or 10 years.”
