Last night saw the Golden Globe Awards take place and I am so glad Ben Affleck won Best Director (Drama) for Argo. Well deserved and makes up a little for him not being nominated for an Oscar. Argo also won Best Picture (Drama). Les Misérables won the most awards, but Django Unchained had a couple.
The event seemed to go very well with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler doing an excellent and very funny job hosting the ceremony. Who else wants to see Dog President? You can see their opening speech below.
Will Ferrell and Kristin Wiig also made the nominations for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy most amusing although Tommy Lee Jones was not amused.
Then, of course, there was Jodie Foster’s acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award. She is 50 and has been in the film business for 47 years! She talked about her life, her sexuality and lots more. Tina and Amy also referenced this in their closing line of the event.
All in all an excellent evening. Below are the full list of winners including some of the acceptance speeches.
