Truth. It wouldn't be a proper red carpet if the stars weren't ready and willing to risk it all in the hopes of solidifying their moment in the spotlight.
From the fit of the bodice to the length of the hemline, to the provocative pattern or unsightly silhouette, there's plenty of room for innocent error when it comes to awards season dressing.
And what better carpet to take a risk (for better or worse) than at the Golden Globe Awards?
Stars went out on a limb by showing too much skin, not enough skin and playing with wild prints and colors.
Halle Berry left little to the imagination in a sky-high slit and midriff-baring Atelier Versace gown while Emily Mortimer kept it all covered in a slinky sequined dress wtih a high neckline.
Others, like Modern Family's Ariel Winter risked it all by dressing much more casually than the rest. But it was Jennifer Lopez that really went for it when she showed up in a revealing Zuhair Murad gown that gave the illusion of bare skin.
So what do you think of these confident risk-takers? Were they red carpet hits or misses?
