Hollywood's Annual Christmas Parade kicked off the 2012 holiday with a star studded parade that had crowds aligning Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards looking to get a glance of their favorite stars of television, music and movies as well the giant air balloons of Papa Smurf, The Grinch, and Sesame Street's Oscar The Grouch and many more on a lovely fall evening.
The festive event will air on the Hallmark Channel on Monday, December 10th with an encore broadcast on Friday, December 21. The parade will then air in syndication across the country. Check your local listings for exact showtimes.
Actor Erik Estrada and travel host Laura McKenzie returned to the parade as the year’s hosts with Elizabeth Stanton and Rob Pinkston returning once again this year to their duties as Parade Roving Reporters. "Criminal Minds" star Joe Montenga served as the parade's grand marshal and was supported by his "Minds" co-stars, Thomas Gibson, A.J. Cooke and Matthew Gray Gubler, who rode in the parade with their families and waved to the cheering crowds.
More than 5,000 people were expected to participate in this year's event, which included a pre-show featuring acts by Cirque du Soleil's IRIS, Kimberly Locke, Ashlee Keating and many others. In the parade were 21 marching bands from all over the nation, eight equestrian units, six floats, 14 giant cartoon character balloons, and 52 novelty acts and cars, including the "Back to the Future" DeLorean, and the Batmobiles from 1966 and the Batmobile from the 1992 film.
Stars from "Days of Our Lives," "The Bold and the Beautiful," "The Young and the Restless" and "General Hospital" came out to greet the crowds as well as the casts from such shows as "A.N.T. Farm," "The First Family," ABC's "Neighbors," "Baby Daddy," "Bunheads" and "Big Time Rush" to name a few.
Internationally known figures also celebrated the holiday season with their participation, including "Supah Ninjas" star George Takei of "Star Trek" fame, Jerry Mathers of "Leave It To Beaver," Oscar Winner Lou Gossett Jr, and Lou Ferrigno.
