Chevy Chase is leaving NBC’s college-themed comedy Community.
Frankly, we’re surprised it took this long.
Chase’s decided to leave the cult sitcom — effective immediately — after reaching a mutual agreement with the show’s producers, The Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday. The National Lampoon’s Vacation star, 69, will appear in all but two episodes of the fourth season of Community . Season 4 has already been taped and is set to begin airing on Feb. 7.
Chase had a rocky tenure playing a wealthy man who enrolls in community college. The comedian has been vocal about his unhappiness with the show’s editors. Chevy was left shamefaced when a profane voicemail of him berating former Community executive producer Dan Harmon went viral in April.
