Tag Heuer, a Swiss luxury watchmaker which has notably written some of the most important chapters in the history of Swiss watchmaking, from the oscillating pinion in the Microtimer, the first ever bracelet chronograph accurate to 1/100th seconds, to the Monaco V4 series watch, and the Carrera Calibre 360, the first mechanical movement to display 1/100th second, has now come up with an incredibly new Mikrotourbillon S, a wristwatch equipped with two tourbillions escapements, one for timekeeping and other for the chronograph. The Tag Heuer Mikrotourbillon S timepiece is a yet another impressive development of the brand's ‘Mikro’ platform that actually powers the wide range Chronographs with of ultra-high frequency. We have also earlier seen Tag Heuer’s world’s fastest chronometer watch, the Mikrotimer Flying 1000, which is capable of tracking 1/1000th of a second.

Technically, Tag Heuer’s ‘Mikro’ platform, which is a dual-frequency movement with two barrels, powers the range of ultra-high frequency Chronographs, ranging from the 1/100th second mikrograph through to the 2/10,000the Mikrogirder. And, both of the functions run autonomously of one another, with one tourbillion running at 4 Hz and controls timekeeping. While the second tourbillion runs at 50 Hz and controls the chronograph, which can measure events to 1/100th of a second. The latter however completes an entire revolution in just 5 seconds, thus making it 12 times faster than standard tourbillion, which takes full 1-minute to complete a revolution.
This relatively conventional watch sports a 45mm Carrera case finished in Rose Gold, and a black metal called Tantalum adds a perfect contrast to the Rose Gold finish.

The watch sports a dial divided into two halves; the left is dedicated to the two tourbillions, and the right side houses the sub-dials and power reserve. Further, the Mikrotourbillon S also features a crown, which actually charges both the chronograph and the wtch, depending on the direction that it is wound. Truly, with Mikrotourbillon S wristwatch, TAG Heuer clearly wants to prove itself as a Swiss luxury watchmaker for high precision and innovative chronographs.

And, unlike Tag Heuer’s many incredible timepieces, the Mikrotourbillon S wristwatch is not a concept, and will be available to order very soon with a price tag of $225,060. Reportedly, this incredible wristwatch with two tourbillions will also be shown to public at the upcoming Timecrafters Show, scheduled to be held from September 14 to 15th in New York.
