The daring garment was also backless and slashed to above the knee. But it also allowed pop star Janet, 46, to expose a fetish-style pair of shoes.

The towering platforms, which grasped her ankles with what looked like a cross between a metal tag and handcuffs, must have been a challenge to walk in as they came without heels.

But Michael Jackson’s little sister pulled it all off, smiling as if it was the most comfortable outfit in the world.

She also had a white dinner jacket to cover up with in case she got cold — or should suffer another outfit "hiccup" as she did during the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show, which saw her expose a boob in front of millions of viewers.

But luckily for Janet there seemed to be no repeat in Cannes, France, where she attended the Cinema against AIDS gala yesterday. It raised £7million for the Foundation for AIDS Research.

Janet — whose showbiz career has spanned more than 30 years — has also revealed she does not want her niece to follow in her footsteps.

Janet, who was ten when she hit the limelight, is concerned about 14-year-old Paris’s wish of becoming an actress, saying “you’re only a child once”.

So she advised the girl — her brother Michael’s daughter — to enjoy her teenage years before starting work.

In December, Paris landed her first film role in Lundon's Bridge and the Three Keys.

She had to convince her legal guardian, gran Katherine, to let her appear in the film — which will feature both real and animated characters — but managed to persuade her as she believes her late father would have appreciated the loving message of the film.

The movie will be based on a young adult series by Dennis H. Christen, about a dolphin turned into a human by ancient magic, a teenage boy who turns into a dragonfly and a jellyfish queen which morphs into an evil fairy godmother.

Meanwhile, another star who flashed her lovely curves was Kirsten Dunst.

Kirsten was among the stars at the amfAR bash where she was joined by celebrities including Kylie Minogue, Heidi Klum, Diane Kruger, Gerard Butler, Antonio Banderas and Adrien Brody.
