- Google is re-branding Blogger and Picasa: Within the next six weeks, Google will be changing the names of Picasa and Blogger to Google Photos and Google Blogs. The date conincides with what is slated to be Google+'s public launch so it's probable that Google is doing the re-branding as a step towards integrating Picasa and Blogger with Google Plus. - Google Plans to Stop Supporting Private Profiles: As of July 31, 2011, Google will stop supporting private Google Profiles—only public profiles will be supported. After July 31, all private profiles will be deleted. [Google+ Project]
- Google Plans to Open Hangouts for Interoperability: Google is currently working on making the Google+ Hangouts feature compatible with all major browsers, but exact date has not been released yet. Google also plans on releasing the specifications necessary to work with Hangsout—speculation is that this could be a precursor to letting third-party developers working with Hangouts. [GigaOm]
- Verizon Getting Rid of Unlimited Data Plans. : Verizon confirmed that as of July 7, it will be discontinuing unlimited data plans and switching to a usage-based pricing model. The new price points are $30 for 2GB, $50 for 5 GB, or $80 for 10GB. Overerage fees will be $10 per GB of data. [Fierce Wireless]
- AT&T iPhone Insurance Becomes More Affordable : Starting July 17, AT&T will start covering iPhones under the standard insurance plan. The new plan will costs $4.99 per month with a $50 or $125 deductible, depending the iPhone model. The previous pricing was $11.99 per month. Apple also offers an iPhone insurance plan, but unlike AT&T's plan does not cover accidental damage, theft, or loss. [Mashable]
- Netflix Streaming is Coming to Latin America. : Netflix will be opening up streaming to 43 Latin American countries where users will have three language choices-Spanish, Portugese, and English. [Netflix Blog]
- FourSquare Releases New Features on Android First: Despite usually launching new features on the iPhone and then Android, FourSquare released it's new "Beyond Check-Ins Notfications" feature on Android first. Beyond Check-Ins Notifications are notifications covering things like comments on check-ins and photos, along with alerts for when friends sign up, tips, and when you're ousted as mayor. - Google to Launch New Flight Search Service Soon: Google will soon be releasing a new flight search too. Searching for flights will be just like searching for anything else using Google and the results will be in real-time.
