Who knew that even the
Louvre could be pretty in pink? Certainly not Louvre director Henri Loyrette. But with the creativity of Los Angeles party planner Ben Bourgeois and
Liaisons au Louvre II benefit chair Becca Cason Thrash, the
Cour Marly was the perfect setting for a fuchsia-hued soiree Tuesday night.
Joining the black-tie coterie of Louvre supporters staying through the dinner and on to a 40-minute Janet Jackson concert in the iconic
I. M. Pei-designed Pyramid were Prince Albert of Monaco, Fanny Ardant, Diane Kruger, Joshua Jackson, Naeem Khan, and a load of hefty movers and shakers. It was a crowd wealthy enough to part with $1.1 million in the live auction.
And then Jackson shook the foundations of the otherwise staid Louvre with her rocking performance. She was the first female pop star to perform under the Louvre pyramid. Before the concert, Jackson
tweeted her fans, "Hey u guys. I'm in Paris n excited to be performing at "Liaisons au Louvre" tonight! This is the start of my European tour. Let's go!"
