Even with an Oscar nomination under her belt, it wasn't easy for Jennifer Lawrence to score the lead role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games series. And yet, when Lionsgate finally offered the 20-year-old actress the coveted part, she was initially torn.
"I knew that as soon as I said yes, my life would change," Lawrence told Entertainment Weekly. "And I walked around an entire day thinking 'It's not too late, I could still go back and do indies, I haven't said yes yet, it's not too late.'"But Lawrence, who read the trilogy prior to auditioning, couldn't turn down the opportunity. "I love this story," she said, "and if I had said no, I would regret it every day."
Other stars appearing in The Hunger Games include Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark, Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne, Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket and Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy.
