Chris Hemsworth has signed up to play the male lead in Snow White And The Huntsman. The Australian actor can currently be seen in Marvel superhero blockbuster Thor and will reprise the role in The Avengers, which has just started shooting.
But Hemsworth has already committed to his next project. He will play the titular huntsman in the new fairytale adaptation after weeks of rumours, according to Deadline.com. He will star opposite Twilight's Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Sam Claflin.
Snow White And The Huntsman is an alternative take on the fairytale, which sees the Huntsman go on the run with Snow White after disobeying the evil queen's orders to kill her.
A statement from Universal reads: "In Snow White and the Huntsman, Stewart plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Theron) who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the one girl threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Hemsworth) who was dispatched to kill her. Claflin plays the prince long enchanted by Snow White's beauty and power."
Meanwhile, Relativity Media are planning a rival movie based on the story, The Brothers Grimm: Snow White.
