You know the songs. Now it's time to see them live.
Janet Jackson is bringing her “Number Ones, Up Close and Personal” tour to the Qwest Center Omaha Tuesday.
The 44-year-old singer is still going strong. While she recorded some of the songs when she was 19, reviews say she has been belting them out with vigor.
She'll be playing a half house at the arena because, she says, she wants to get close to her fans.
She'll be performing her hits, including “Rhythm Nation,” “All For You,” “Nasty” and “That's the Way Love Goes.”
Jackson's on the road to promote her two-disc set, “Number Ones,” that came out last year. Along with old songs, the package also features a new one, “Make Me.”
Jackson's on tour for the first time since 2008, when she went on the road for her critically acclaimed “Rock Witchu” tour.
She hasn't had a new record since “Discipline” five years ago. She parted with her record label after that album, and there have since been rumors that Jackson's not going to make any more music.
“That's not true,” she told USA Today. “I love singing and performing too much to give them up. Right now I've got a couple more films I may do ... then I'll figure out whether to go with a major (label) or do something more independent.”
Jackson's also been hounded recently about questions involving her brother and her family, but she has answered a few.
“I can't say that time will completely heal things,” Jackson said. “But it definitely makes things better.”
