Saturday, March 19th 2011, 4:00 AMIs there any genre Janet Jackson can't master? Tomorrow night, she wraps up three nights at Radio City Music Hall as part of her "Number Ones: Up Close and Personal" world tour.
Dunand/GettyJanet Jackson said she envisioned her current tour as being 'up close and personal.'
Between performances yesterday, the 44-year-old singer and actress squeezed in a signing for her first book at a Manhattan Barnes & Noble . The self-help memoir, "True You ," happens to be a best seller.
Oh, and just this week, it was announced Jackson signed a deal with Lionsgate studios to produce a feature film.
On her current tour: "I was at Radio City for a private performance last year. It was so much fun. While I was on stage, I could look out and see the faces of everyone in the audience. All I could think of was, 'This is exactly how I wanted to do my next tour, up close and personal.' I am excited to be back in Radio City for the public dates." (Blast magazine)
On her childhood: "My father was never there the way I really wanted . ... I wanted to be able to call him Dad. I tried it once. He said, 'I'm Joseph to you, do not call me Dad.' That affects you as a kid." ("Piers Morgan Tonight")
On marriage: "There came a point in my life where I said, Okay, maybe this isn't for me and I don't need a piece of paper to validate ... my love for that person. But, there's also something to be said for that bond, that closeness that you feel that can't be penetrated by anyone, anything." (HLN)
