All is settled now between singer Rihanna and photographer David LaChapelle who were tangled in a lawsuit about her "S&M" video. LaChapelle asked for $1 million in damages but the final amount paid is not disclosed, NY Post reported. "David is happy with the settlement," the shutterbug's publicist said.
LaChapelle sued Rihanna for copying his provocative pictures in the raunchy scenes of her video. In the lawsuit, he claimed that the video copied his poses, lighting, wardrobe and props. The "pink room scene" in particular is similar to his "Striped Face" photograph.
Manhattan federal Judge Shira Scheindlin said that LaChapelle "successfully alleges" that Rihanna and the video director may have copied his images.
"I like RiRi," LaChapelle said earlier this summer. "This is not personal, it's strictly business. Musicians commonly pay to sample music or use someone's beats and there should be no difference when sampling an artist's visuals."

JANET Jackson's fans are in for an up close but not so personal treat on her Australian tour.
Janet Jackson kicked her intimate theatre tour "Number Ones: Up Close and Personal" off in Perth this week, with fans clearly thrilled with their proximity to the American superstar.
However 45-year-old Jackson only really spoke to the crowd at the very end, as the video screen flashed up photos of her with late brother Michael - fittingly on the ode to the gone "Together Again".
HIT readers asked Janet Jackson the questions, we sent them across the sea, and the pop superstar's answers came flying back.TWENTY five years have passed since Janet Jackson first asserted that she was in command."Thank you for your love and support over the years, not just for me but my entire family," Janet said.
For the fans, just watching Janet Jackson doing a masterclass in pop music just metres away from them was enough.
And this show is specifically for the fans - it's relentless megamix of her string of hits - too many to perform them all in full it seems.
It's a low-key production, but the high-hit factor over-rides that. Jackson doesn't even bother changing outfits during the show, focussing instead on the music.
Her band recreates '80s and '90s hits like "Nasty", "All For You", "What Have You Done For Me Lately", "Rhythm Nation", "If", "Escapade", "Runaway", "Miss You Much" and "That's the Way Love Goes" just as you remember them.

Janet, now 45, had no problem busting out the accompanying trademark dance moves she was doing 25 years ago.
Janet Jackson has never been hailed for her 100-per-cent live vocals, but this tour seems as `live' as you've heard her, especially during the ballads like the sweet Let's Wait Awhile. Plenty of laughter and geographical shout-outs prove the mics are on, even if the three backing singers certainly earn their wages.
The duet with Michael Jackson, Scream, is served in a bite-size portion with no comments necessary except the crowd's reaction when his image and vocals appear on video.
Janet's constant smiling demonstrate she's enjoying seeing her fans faces as much as they're enjoying the rare chance to see a superstar at almost-touching distance.
Janet Jackson plays Adelaide's Festival Centre on Saturday, Melbourne's Arts Centre October 26,27,29, the Gold Coast Convention Centre November 2, and Sydney's Opera House on November 5,6 and 8. Tickets are still available for most shows.
