As the cast and crew of Gravity picked up their whopping seven Oscars at Sunday's show, the winners all thanked director Alfonso Cuaron and starSandra Bullock. But if the film had been made with Cuaron's original casting, they might have been thanking Angelina Jolie.
Jolie, 38, originally turned down the lead role of astronaut Ryan Stone due to scheduling conflict with her other projects.
"I had conversations with Angelina, but then she went to do one film and another she was going to direct," Cuaron revealed at a talk at Loyola Marymount University on Feb. 12. "It's just something that happens."

Ironically, Brad Pitt's dazzling fiancée ended up presenting Cuaron with his Oscar alongside cinema legend Sidney Poitier. There didn't seem to be any hard feelings from the mother of six. (Actresses Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Marion Cotillard, and Scarlett Johansson were also considered for the role.)
