Long standing sponsors Coke and Ford are still on board, but AT&T which promoted free text message voting on American Idol will not be around forAmerican Idol XIII .
I wonder how FOX will deal with this when the live voting starts.
Is this the end of unlimited voting on Idol as we know it? That was one of the things that made Idol Idol.

AT&T is cutting its longstanding ties with Fox’s “American Idol,” severing a sponsorship that has lasted 12 years, while the program grapples with ratings declines and age.“We’ve been proud to be a part of this groundbreaking TV series for the past 12 years,” the company said in a statement. “We wish our friends at ‘American Idol’ continued success.” A spokesman declined to comment on the business reasons for the split.The average price of a 30-second ad in “American Idol” this season came to $281,000 for Wednesday episodes and $257,926 for Thursdays, according to a Variety survey of commercial prices for the 2013-2014 season. Just last year, “Idol’ was securing an average of $340,825 for Wednesdays and an average of $296,002 for Thursdays.
