Broadway baby Idina Menzel made her Oscar debut on March 2, with a gorgeous rendition of ‘Let It Go’ — the chart-topping hit from the animated Disney flick ‘Frozen’ — that will surely have everyone talking.

Idina Menzel has been wowing Broadway crowds for decades with her award-winning roles in plays like Rent and Wicked, so needless to say her longtime fans were not surprised when “Let It Go” topped the charts following the release of Idina’s hit movie Frozen. Oscar nominee Idina took the stage at the Academy Awards to belt out her hit; surely earning numerous new fans in the process!

‘Frozen’ Oscar Performance — Idina Menzel Sings ‘Let It Go’

Wow. That’s basically all one can say when Idina takes the stage, whether it’s at the Oscars or on the Broadway stage.
After an introduction from John Travolta that featured a reference to Idina’s star-making role in Wicked (as well as a ridiculous mispronunciation of her name), Idina performed “Let It Go” from the Disney hit Frozen — which won Best Animated Feature Film earlier in the night — in a gorgeous, nude-pink gown that truly made her look like a princess.
To be honest, it was clear within seconds why Idina’s performance was saved for last — her voice is mesmerizing, her stage presence is captivating, and the song itself is completely inspirational. She needed no backup singers, no dancers, no flair… her voice truly said it all. After she sang, the entire Dolby arena erupted in applause and gave her a standing ovation that was greatly deserved.
What did you think of Idina’s performance, HollywoodLifers? Did it do the version from the film justice? If you haven’t seen Frozen, did it make you wantto? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

John Travolta BUTCHERS Name of Idina Menzel: Watch, Cringe Now!

You may have fallen at the Academy Awards for the second consecutive year, but you did not make biggest blunder at last night's ceremony.
Far from it in, fact.
John Travolta took to the stage at one point during the event and introduced Broadway star Idina Menzel to sing the Oscar-nominated track "Let It Go" from Frozen.
Except somehow, some way, Travolta pronounced the artist's name as "Adele Dazim." Watch the epic gaffe now:
Fortunately, Travolta's mistake did not affect Menzel's performance in any way.
She brought the house down with what went on to win Best Original Song:

As the cast and crew of Gravity picked up their whopping seven Oscars at Sunday's show, the winners all thanked director Alfonso Cuaron and starSandra Bullock. But if the film had been made with Cuaron's original casting, they might have been thanking Angelina Jolie
Jolie, 38, originally turned down the lead role of astronaut Ryan Stone due to scheduling conflict with her other projects.
"I had conversations with Angelina, but then she went to do one film and another she was going to direct," Cuaron revealed at a talk at Loyola Marymount University on Feb. 12. "It's just something that happens."

Ironically, Brad Pitt's dazzling fiancée ended up presenting Cuaron with his Oscar alongside cinema legend Sidney Poitier. There didn't seem to be any hard feelings from the mother of six. (Actresses Blake LivelyNatalie Portman, Marion Cotillard, and Scarlett Johansson were also considered for the role.)

New HTC One Seemingly Leaked in This Detailed 12-Minute Video

Given we already seem to know so much about this year's HTC One successor, you have to wonder what will be left for the struggling Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer to show off at its March 25th showcase event. Thanks to this lengthy video leak, they might as well box 'em up and get the phone down to the shops already.
Coming courtesy of YouTuber GadgetReviews, who has since taken the original video down (seemingly as it reveals the IMEI number — and potentially the source of the leak), it's now been reposted by quick-fingered downloaders. While the internal specifications don't get a mention, we do get a look at the handset's dual-cameras, onscreen navigation buttons built into the updated Sense 6.0 UI and the welcome inclusion of a microSD slot.
There's not a hell of a lot new here then, sadly, but it's the most in-depth look at the phone we've had so far, and adds extra weight to the rumours that have been swirling around over the past few months. As ever, you'll want to wait for official word from HTC before setting your cash aside, but a clear picture of what to expect from the new HTC One is definitely forming. [YouTube2]

Ellen DeGeneres Oscar Selfie Sets Twitter Record with 2 Million Retweets: See it Here!

Ellen DeGeneres Oscar Selfie
Ellen's Oscar selfie quickly eclipsed Barack Obama’s historic "four more years" re-election tweet en route to nearly three times as many retweets (2,089,000).
The President's photo of himself embracing wife Michelle garnered just 780,000 after the 2012 presidential election results were made official. So weak.
Of course, Twitter use has been growing since then; the network is 30 percent bigger than during Obama’s epic hug. Also, he only won 51 percent of the vote!
Celebrity love-fests, on the flip side, appeal to Republicans and Democrats alike. Meryl Streep, Brad Pitt, Kevin Spacey and Bradley Cooper are in the pic!
There's also America's Sweetheart. If Jennifer Lawrence falling at the Oscarsgoes viral, so will Jennifer Lawrence looking adorable next to a beaming Ellen.

She deserves a special place among the 2014 Academy Award winners, for sure. Speaking of which ... the GIFs below could probably get 1 million too ...

VP MVP? Binay considering him in 2016

MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Jejomar Binay confirmed he is considering businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan as his running mate in 2016.
In an interview at his Pag-IBIG Fund office in Makati Monday, March 3, Binay said Pangilinan is among the personalities he is eyeing to be his vice presidential candidate.
The former Makati mayor cited Pangilinan’s track record as a “successful businessman” as a factor.
Bakit siya maka-consider? Walang agreement ito ah. Kung bakit siya kino-consider, ako, personally, from my experience as a mayor, eh kung walang revenue, walang project. Eh kung mayroon kang successful businessman, may track record kung paano mag-raise ng revenue sa business side of it [eh di maigi],” Binay said.
(Why is he being considered? There is no agreement yet but personally, from my experience as mayor, if there is no revenue, there is no project. If you have a successful businessman with a track record in raising revenue in the business side of it, then that’s good.”)
“After all, one of my guiding policies when I was a mayor was to run the city government of Makati as if it [were] a corporate entity.”
Binay said that in the Philippines, the private sector is known for showing effectiveness and efficiency.
So ang pamamalakad namin doon, iyon ang magiging batayan. Iyong talent niya ng efficiency at effectiveness eh ‘di makakasama namin.” (So the way we run that, that is the basis. His talent in efficiency and effectiveness will be part of our group.)
No formal talks
Binay though clarified that he has not had formal talks with Pangilinan amid reports the businessman is sending feelers. He said he has met with Pangilinan on several occasions but not about the 2016 polls.
“There are no formal talks at our end because we are the ones considering. If we finally feel we go to the next step after considering, that will be the start of the talk,” the Vice President said.
In October last year, responding to the call of an analyst for him to make good use of his "technocratic skills" and join the 2016 presidential elections, Pangilinan said he has made up his mind he will not run for any government position.
"There is no political blood that runs through my veins. I believe I can serve our people better some other way," he told reporters via a text message on Oct 15, 2013. (READ: MVP shuns politics)
Elections, he said then, "provide us yet again a rare opportunity to define the country's long-term economic and social priorities, and form a broad consensus around them." He stressed that his role as a businessman is enough to help the country's economy grow, though government's assistance is key.
Pangilinan was once rumored to be eyeing the presidency.
He is considered one of the most powerful men in the country since he is at the helm of companies that are leaders in industries considered crucial to the Philippine economy. These include the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co., infrastructure giant Metro Pacific Investments Corp., the biggest power player Manila Electric Co., the biggest gold producer Philex, as well as Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., and Maynilad Water Services Inc.
In the same interview on Monday, Binay reiterated that Batangas Governor Vilma Santos is another personality he is considering to be his running mate. On Monday morning, Santos’ husband, Senator Ralph Recto, said the governor has no plans of seeking higher office in 2016.
The Vice President elaborated on his plans for the presidential polls after announcing that he is bolting his party of about 30 years, the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) to form his own political party. (READ: Binay forms new party)
Meloto, Poe, Pag-IBIG CEO unlikely
Binay also commented on reports naming other public figures as his possible running mates.
Reacting to an article of columnist Ellen Tordesillas, Binay said it is unlikely that he will run alongside Gawad Kalinga Founder Tony Meloto. He said he only heard of Meloto’s name from the report.
“What I know Tony is saying repeatedly is he does not want to run for public office. When we are together as guests in events, he himself says he will not enter politics so I never considered him. Tony can be there as a consultant as he is now helping us in our housing programs,” the housing czar said in Filipino.
As for 2013 polls frontrunner Senator Grace Poe, Binay said she is being considered but there are complications involved. As an opposition leader, Binay supported the presidential campaign of Poe’s late father, actor Fernando Poe Jr in 2004.
“From where she’s coming from, mukhang hindi siya nagku-kuwan sa oposiyon. Merong nagpo-program para sa kanya. Just to be honest about it,” he said. (It seems she is not with the opposition. Someone is making a plan for her.)
Binay added that he is not considering Pag-IBIG Fund CEO and President Darlene Marie Berberabe because he does not find her to be interested in politics. Binay is the chairman of the Pag-IBIG Fund.
The Vice President said Senator Jinggoy Estrada, who is facing a plunder complaint over the pork barrel scam, is still being “mentioned” in discussions about his running mate.
The Binay criteria
Asked what he is looking for in a running mate, the Vice President said, “If possible, the person should have a track record that will be of help to us in trying to improve further, continue improving [the country]. Who can give that but of course an economist.”
Binay clarified though that he is still at the stage of considering choices, with the elections still two years away.
“It’s still open. We will just make a decision at the right time. 2016 is still a long way off. It is not our priority to immediately choose who will be with you. On the practical side, many people want to be chosen but if you do that, this early, you anger many people.”
“A lot of things can still happen. Maybe for one reason or the other, you will be bound by a choice and then it will not push through.”
Binay’s announcement about his new party renewed talk about 2016, sparking political observers to float names about possible presidential and vice presidential tandems in the polls.
To date, Binay is the only candidate who has openly declared his presidential bid. – Rappler.com

The epic 2014 Oscars were as long as 1.2 Wolf of Wall Streets

This year’s Oscars felt … long. Not 2002 long, when Whoopi Goldberg kept her audience questionably enthralled for more than four hours. Not “Lord of the Rings”-trilogy long. But the live broadcast did stretch on far past the 180-minute run time of “The Wolf of Wall Street” — a film deemed “epic” by more than one critic, and exhausting by more than one viewer.
In fact, when you stack this year’s Oscar broadcast next to this year’s best-picture nominated films, it’s hard to see how anybody sat through the whole thing.
Contrary to popular myth, however, the Oscars haven’t actually gotten longer each year. After swelling from less than two hours in the ’50s to a bloated 4+ hours in the early aughts, Oscar run-times plateaued — perhaps because producers realized they were beginning to try our collective patience.
Alas, it looks like they might be trying it again: This year’s awards, at three hours and 36 minutes, were a full 20 minutes longer than last year’s … and last year’s ran longer than 2012 and 2011′s.

Joan Rivers Cake-Bombed…And You’ll Never Guess By Who!

When someone threw a cake on acid-tongued comedienne Joan Rivers during a pre-Oscar party last night, half of Hollywood fell under suspicion. Rivers arrived at the QVC Red Carpet Style party at the Four Seasons L.A. wearing a black lace overlay and matching trousers and left wearing a face full of icing.
(Cue the laugh track…)
Our money was on North West. After all, those eyebrows have been frequent targets of ridicule on Rivers’ Twitter feed in recent months. But you’ll never guess the culprit!
Apparently, the 80-year-old Fashion Police host found herself in a backstage altercation with Miss Piggy! They hurled insults at one another, but the flippant star was no match for the Muppet. After trading one barb too many, Piggy gave Joanie a strong shove, inadvertently giving her a healthy heaping of the sweet stuff right in the kisser.
Oops.

The Hormones You Release During Exercise

How Exercise Re-Programs Your Body's Chemistry

Here are 3 hormones that, spurred by activity, make you healthier
a good sweat are well-documented: Regular physical activity can help lower your blood pressure and cholesterol levels, help you achieve and maintain a healthy weight, and reduce your risk of depression, heart disease, stroke, and cancer. While weight loss and blood sugar control are two reasons for these benefits, there's another one that most people don't know about: When you move, your muscles release hormones. Here are three you’re producing every time you work up a sweat.
The hormone: Irisin
What it is: Exercise causes it to break off into your bloodstream and circulate throughout your body. Hence its nickname: the “exercise hormone.”
How it works: One recent study found that irisin reprograms fat cells to burn energy instead of storing it, which explains how working out boosts your metabolic rate and helps you shed flab. Another recent U.K. study discovered that people with higher levels of irisin in their blood are more likely to have longer telomeres—caps at the end of chromosomes that shorten as you age. Many health issues—including cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s—are associated with shorter telomere length.
Maximize the benefits: “Focus on the large muscle groups since they contain more individual muscle cells,” says study author James Brown, Ph.D.
The hormone: Testosterone
What it is: The primary male sex hormone secreted in your testicles that powers sex drive and fuels bone, hair, and muscle growth.
How it works: Following a workout, levels of testosterone rise for 15 minutes to an hour depending on your age, fitness level, and how intensely you exercised. Your body uses circulating testosterone to build muscle mass. Low T levels may contribute to heart disease including blood clots and an abnormal heart rhythm, as well as type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
Maximize the benefits: Start with aerobic exercise then turn to weights: Participants registered a 41.4 percent increase in testosterone when they exercised on a bike then performed a weight-lifting routine of bench presses, squats, lat pull-downs, and knee extensions, according to research in The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research. Guys who exercised in the reverse order only increased their testosterone by 3.3 percent after their workout. One theory: Since strength training raises testosterone more than aerobic exercise, when you start with cardio and finish with lifting, the hormone maintains a steady rise throughout your workout and beyond. When you exercise in the reverse order, it may fall back down while you’re panting on the treadmill.
The hormone: Peptide YY
What it is: A hormone secreted in your gut that acts on areas of the brain to reduce appetite and increase fullness after a meal.
How it works: While researchers aren’t entirely sure how it happens, exercise does increases levels of peptide YY, which may make you less hungry after a workout. That’s one step in the right direction: A recent report in the American Journal of Public Health found that obesity accounts for nearly 18 percent of all deaths in the U.S.
Maximize the benefits: Aerobic exercise seems to have the edge in boosting PYY levels compared to strength training. According to a 2013 study in the journal Appetite, weight-bearing exercise, like jumping rope, has a greater effect on PYY than non-weight bearing activities, such as cycling or swimming.
