This Woman Makes More Than $9000 A Month Letting People Watch Her Eat

A South Korean woman named Park Seo-yeon makes serious BANK and all she does is cook food and let strangers on the Internet watch her eat food .
The latest internet craze in South Korea is known as "gastronomic voyeurism" — watching people eat online — and one woman is making a killing from it.Park Seo-yeon — known as "The Diva" — cooks elaborate dishes and sets them in front of her webcam. Then she sits down and begins eating, broadcasting her meals over the Internet. People tune in to chat with her and send her virtual gifts that translate into cash. She makes more than $9,000 every month from the venture — and has quit her full-time job at a consulting firm as a result.

Why did I even go to college, man. Hey, I'm eating a corn dog right now. For the bargain price of $50, I will send you a photo. It's a good corn dog, too.

Justin Bieber Is Getting Away With Everything Because Miami PD Sucks

Damnit damnit damnit.  Just when you think that maybe, just maybe, Justin Bieber was finally going to get the ass kicking he so rightfully deserves, it’s becoming more and more apparent that he isn’t.  Just like with every other run in with the law, or stupid pissing in a bucket move made, Bieber’s lucky breaks just keep coming and keeping his ass safe.

Justin Bieber ArmsIt seems the Miami Beach Police Department might have used a little too much creative licensing with account of Bieber’s arrest, and now it is coming back to bite them in the ass.  So not fair.
Last week, Justin Bieber was arrested for being a dumbass and drag racing while drunk and high in a neighborhood.   After spending the night shimmying his Ken doll-like hairless chest in his ridiculous pleather shorts at some club, Bieber and his friends thought it would be a brilliant idea to get all Fast and Furious on Mulholland Drive.  The Miami PD seemed to be on top of their shit, and they quickly arrested Justin and the car he was racing, driven by some random rapper with low standards for friends.
It was like we were getting Christmas twice in a short period of time.  Justin was handcuffed and arrest for being drunk, driving like a fool, and resisting arrest.  He then admitted to also taking drugs, and I am seriously hoping he had a full body cavity search while grabbing his ankles.  He then took a douchey mug shot, looking more like the “before” pictures in ProActiv commercials he used to be a spokesman for.   It was all going along gloriously, and each update to my Google Alerts was like another gift wrapped perfectly in a gigantic karmic bow.
But then it comes out that the Miami PD got all wonky with the facts about the whole ordeal.  First, it was reported that Bieber’s blood alcohol level was at a.04.  A little buzzed, but not stupid drunk, totally still illegal when you’re not 21.  It was enough to corroborate that he was probably a little off his driving game.  Well, nope, turns out those numbers were a bit off and in fact he was.014.  That’s like half a glass of Boone’s Farm.
Then, the whole drag racing bit gets destroyed.  Turns out the place where Bieber and Khalil rented their cars from attaches GPS trackers to them, I am guessing to avoid them getting stolen or lost.   Thanks to the tracker, their speeds are always recorded. Sure, when the guys first left the club they were doing about 52 MPH, but their cars quickly lowered into the 30s.  In the middle of their “race” they were actually only going 27 MPH.  One officer originally said he noticed the two zooming by doing 60 MPHs, which not only never happened, but they were going so much slower that there is no way the officer could have been so off unintentionally.   UGH 5-0!
And now the latest piece that is crushing my dream of seeing Bieber get deported back to Moose Country is that Khalil, the rapper he was with, his blood alcohol level was a zero.  Yup, a big fat zero.  So neither Bieber nor Khalil were drunk.  Yet, the cops claim they both failed sobriety tests.  Now, this means that maybe, just maybe, they did actually fail.  Except instead of it being because they were 3 sheets to the wind, it could have been because they were messed up on sizzurp or some other drugs.  The urinalysis is not done yet, so we don’t know for sure but it seems to be the last sliver of hope before this whole thing gets thrown out.

So, basically someone upstairs has a sick sense of humor and has given Bieber a guardian angel.  It’s like he has a constantly renewing “get out of jail free” card, because he just keeps getting away with everything.  Of course, cops with a hard on for arresting the guy and totally making up bullshit, doesn’t help in the fight for justice.

Heat Map Shows Most Popular Chinese New Year Destinations

Baidu-chinese-new-year

Paul Bischoff for Tech in Asia
Baidu has launched a heat map of where Chinese travelers are heading to, coming from, and which routes are most popular during Chinese New Year, the country's largest national holiday.
It's a time when most Chinese either return home to their families or go on vacation, and it's the largest annual mammalian migration on Earth. During the 40-day holiday period — which is called Spring Festival in Chinese — 3.6 billion passenger trips will be made across all modes of transportation (Note: most people only get eight days off).
Baidu gathers data from smartphones with Baidu Maps and other apps using its location-based platform to create the heat map. Baidu Maps alone has more than 200 million registered users and receives 3.5 million position requests every day.
The heat map updates every four to eight hours, showing the most popular destinations, points of origin, and travel routes. It includes a search function so you can see stats from specific cities and time frames. Here's a few stats as of press time:
  • The most popular destination is Beijing, followed by Chongqing. The hub cities in Hunan and Guangxi provinces tie for third.
  • Beijing is also the most popular city to leave, followed by Shanghai and Guangzhou.
  • The trips both to and from Chengdu and Beijing take up the top two most popular routes.

SCOTUS Rulings Propel Macklemore's 'Same Love' Up Music Charts

Samelove
Macklemore's "Same Love" is flying up the music charts thanks to the Supreme Court ruling and "seems to have captured the nation’s mood," the NYT reports :
On Wednesday, the same day the Supreme Court handed historic victories to same-sex couples in both cases, “Same Love” rose to No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, up from No. 65 three weeks ago. On the strength of online streaming more than airplay, the song was No. 5 on the Rap Songs chart, where lyrics in support of gay rights are almost unheard of. Sales of the single surged 23 percent last week from the previous week to a total of more than 788,000 copies, and views of the single’s video on YouTube had approached 53 million by Sunday.

Several radio programmers say surveys of listeners predict the song will continue to rise. “It’s been phenomenal,” said Tom Poleman, the president for national programming at Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, which operates 850 stations. “Everything we are seeing shows it’s going to be another monster hit for them.

Prince has filed a lawsuit against a group of online fans who have posted unauthorized Prince concert videos from the ’80s and beyond on Facebook and other boards.
As Consequence of Sound and The Guardian report, Prince’s court claim targets “22 internet users” for $1 million each. The people he’s suing consist of people who run the Facebook pages and other websites, which have been accused of “massive infringement and bootlegging of Prince’s material” that amount to “up to thousands of separate acts of infringement and bootlegging.
The plaintiff formerly known as Prince also alleges that the defendants — 2 of whom are named, with the rest remaining anonymous – ”constitute an interconnected network of bootleg distribution which is able to broadly disseminate unauthorised copies of Prince’s musical compositions and live performances”
Wonder if a lawsuit like this will actually hold up in court?

Lorde -- Dear New Zealand, I'm Back with 2 Freakin' Grammys

0128-lorde-getty
Lorde just flew back to her homeland Tuesday like a conquering hero -- armed with 2 Grammy Awards ... and a ridiculously nice handwritten thank you to her fellow Kiwis.

Lorde took out a full page in the New Zealand Herald for the note -- fresh off winning Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

Gotta say ... the 17-year-old scribbled a pretty damn charming note: "Without your support, there's no way I would ever have gotten to stand in the middle of the Staples Centre & perform in my school shoes."

You can call her Queen Bee.

Cheap Laser-Sintering Printers Are Coming Thanks To The Expiration Of A Key Patent

Today is a big day for 3D printing: Patent #US5597589 is set to expire and will open up the possibility for makers to use laser sintering — shooting a laser at a layer of nylon powder — in cheaper devices, essentially opening the technology to the small maker.
The patent is fairly clear on what sintering is. It describes an “apparatus for selectively sintering a layer of powder to produce a part made from a plurality of sintered layers and the apparatus includes a computer controlling a laser to direct the laser energy onto the powder to produce a sintered mass.” This means anything that shoots a laser at powder could run afoul of this patent much asForm Labs bumped up against 3D Systems’ stereolithography patent.
Most larger “professional-quality” printers use laser sintering and you can create homogenous, solid-looking objects with stable structures using the technique.
Does this mean we’ll have sintering printers in our homes next year? Possibly, but given the materials needed and the components involved I could see prices going down but not dropping until there is mass acceptance of 3D printing. FDM printers that deposit layers of plastic is still the cheapest method, but sintered parts are almost seamless, creating a cohesive whole that is very useful in prototyping and engineering. In short, however, it’s a great day for makers.

12 Photos From Lunar New Year Celebrations Worldwide

Lunar New Year celebrations begin on Jan. 31, and run for 15 days full of parades, candy and firecrackers to ward off demons.
Also known as Spring Festival, 2014 is the Year of the Horse, which is supposed to be a lucky one. People born in the Year of the Horse will supposedly be talented, cheerful and popular.
But before the festivities begin, many revelers travel back home to Asia, leading to what is reportedly the world's largest human migration .
The party kicks off in a few days, but preparation for Lunar New Year is already underway in places around the world, particularly in East Asia. Check out 12 photos from the event, below.
