A radical new toy catalogue has Sweden dreaming of a gender-neutral Christmas.
After coming under fire for depicting antiquated gender roles in previous catalogue pictures, toy-maker Top Toy has issued a new Christmas catalogue for Toys "R" Us and BR in Sweden.
The pages are almost the same as the catalogue released in Denmark, except many of the genders are reversed.
A little girl is pictured blasting a toy machine gun, for example, while a little boy cradles a baby doll.
The Hello Kitty page in the Swedish version shows a boy instead of a girl, and a boy and girl are shown playing with a dollhouse together.
"With the new gender thinking, there is nothing that is right or wrong. It's not a boy or a girl thing, it's a toy for children," Top Toy director of sales Jan Nyberg told the Tidningarnas Telegrambyra news agency.
