Comments on the Top 12 Men's Performance!:
"Clint Jun Gamboa: “Superstitious.” Clint is a karaoke host and has been very impressive thus far. It was no surprise to me that he made the Top 24. Tuesday night, however, wasn't his night. While he hit the notes at the end, it was a rough start to this Stevie Wonder tune. He seemed stiffer than he has in the past, and it affected his performance. He rallied toward the end, but I expected more from him. Still, from up above in section G, it sounded like he fell into that screamy trap that Idol hopefuls often encounter, but the judges didn't notice. Said Steven: "No karaoke singer in the world has that kind of vocal talent." Usually the first performabce of the season is the hardest and mostly viewers can be forgiving and can performances can be forgettable, but Clint had enought to put him through. 8/10
Jovany Barreto: “I'll Be.” This is the first time I've really heard much of Jovany. He has a great tone to his voice, but was thwarted by the magnitude of the moment. I caught glimpses that he could really sing, but overall, this cover of Edwin McCain mostly missed the mark. Very crew ship lounge version. 5/10."
Jordan Dorsey: “OMG.” Not a good song choice for Jordan. I liked the upbeat tempo, but it sounded more like karaoke but his performance skills, as far as the dance moves and stage presence, were good, but the vocals were not there. It would be good enough to put him to the next level. 7/10.
Tim Halperin: “Streetcorner Symphony (Come On Over).” Finally someone took a song and did his own thing. Tim had stage presence but didn't have vocals to connect to the audience. It wasn't perfect, but it was that bad either. 6/10.
Brett Loewenstern: “Light My Fire.” Interesting take on this classic Doors tune. Brett is surely one of the best vocals in this Season 10 group. While I'm not exactly sure this was the vehicle to showcase that talent, it was unique with all the hair tossing that can outdo any Beyonce performance. Enough to distract the audience as well as the Judges the vocl flaws. He is no Morrison, but Brett did OK and has enough charm to put him to the next round. 7/10.
James Durbin: Judas Priest's "Got Another Thing Coming." It was an apt choice considering he took the performance to 11 and wowed the room, more than half of which gave Durbin a standing ovation. And with that came Steven's first F bomb of the night: "That was f---ing crazy good!" Jennifer called James "organic and real," while Randy declared, "This is how we do it!" But it would be Ryan who delivers the zinger of the night: "Clay Aiken never did that one?" 9/10
Robbie Rosen: “Arms of the Angels.” Robbie has been one of my personal favorites from the audition phase. He has smooth vocals and great tone and control. Interesting song choice. It did have a few rocky moments, but overall, not enough to have a solid score from the judges. 7/10.
Scotty McCreery : “A Letter from Home.” Scotty has charm and a unique voice. His vocal was flawless pitch-wise and while I don't know how he'll fair with “Idol” fans in the long run, but a Carrie Underwood Fairy Godmother could help him become another country superstar and he A.I. trophy. 9/10
Stefano Langone: “Just the Way You Are.” Such a stylistic tune to have chosen to sing and really a hard tune to make his own. The hard thing about popular songs the idelible mark of the original artists can't be erase or change by another so so performance. Stefano can sing to be sure, and he hit the notes, but I don't think he showed the viewers who he really is with this song and with 11 competitors for the votes, I don't know if he stood out enough. 6/10.
Paul McDonald: “Maggie May.” Paul has a unique voice and character; What was once weird and irritating is becoming completely adorable and entertaining. His performance of “Maggie Mae” could be a hit today. 8/10.
Overall, a very good night for Idol, the new judges and the Top 12 men.
My picks favorites: Brett Loewenstern; Paul McDonald; Clint Jun Gamboa; Jacob Lusk & Casey Abrams.

I’m not really surprised by any of these choices. As far as the judges comments? They loved Lauren Turner, Lauren Alaina and Pia Toscano and thought Rachel Zevita, Naima Adedepo, Ashthon Jones and Julie Zorilla were the worst of the night. Everyone else was middle of the road. We’ll have to wait until tomorrow night to see how it all plays out.
