'American Idol' Season 10, Top 12 Girls Perform: TV Recap
It was girls night out on “American Idol” and these gals were all bringing it.
If we’re listening to the judges, one thing is clear: nothing is clear. There was lots of disagreement among them on who was great and who was average.
It’s tough to narrow down a short list of the big shines of the night because everyone really came on strong, but Pia Toscano brought the house down. Lauren Alaina, Thia Megia, Ashthon Jones, Karen Rodriguez, Kendra Chantelle, and Naima Adedapo might be leading the pack too.
Thia Megia sings her own version of ‘Out Here On My Own‘ popularized by Irene Cara during the Top 12 Girls performance night.
She was given a standing ovation after her performance. The judges loved her and one of them said he was reminded by the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
Steven Tyler said “Sometimes a persons pitch can be perfect and yours was. That was beautiful.”
Jennifer Lopez said “It was a quiet moment and beautiful. It was really really special.”
Randy Jackson said “Your tone reminded me so much of the late great Michael Jackson. This is what hot singing is about.”
This was given an ‘A’ rating by American Idol Net, they said, “Thia is a great technical singer. Her tone is flawless. But her stage presence isn’t there yet. And her performance was borderline depressing. She’s also coming off a lot older than 15. I don’t think that’s a good thing”.
Let’s see what the other girls got.
Ta-Tynisa Wilson, “Only Girl.”
Her performance was a bit weak. Sometimes flat and lost some notes.
Naima Adedapo, “Summertime.”
Her performance was quite boring though she sounded good.
Kendra Chantelle, “Impossible.”
She has a good performance but not a good song choice for her.
Rachel Zevita, “Criminal.”
She has a good vocal but the arrangement of the song popularized by Fiona Apple was terrible.
Karen Rodriguez, “Hero.”
The performance was slightly show choir-y. But finally, at the end, she showed strength and power.
Lauren Turner, “Seven Day Fool.”
She’s got soul. She’s got power. Loving it.
Ashton Jones, “Love Over Me.”
She just needs to skip the competition show and cut an album.
Julie Zorrilla, “Break Away.”
One word -Terrible. That’s all.
Haley Reinhart, “Fallin”
Her voice is unique and sexy.
Lauren Alaina, “Turn on The Radio.”
She is natural but quite lost in her performance.
Pia Toscano, “I’ll Stand By You.”
Wow. Just wow. Perfect performance.
