Hearing: Omaima Nelson in court in Santa Ana, California, in 1993 when she was jailed for 27 years-to-life
A cannibal wife branded the Californian Hannibal Lecter after killing and eating her new husband for Thanksgiving 20 years ago has again been denied parole.
Egyptian-born Omaima Nelson, 43, who cooked William Nelson and ate his ribs with BBQ sauce, lost her bid for freedom after a five-hour hearing at the Central California Women's Facility in Chowchilla, where she is serving a life sentence.
In 1993 the then 23-year-old was convicted of murdering her 56-year-old husband in a grotesque killing that authorities likened to 'Silence of the Lambs.'
The murderer represented herself at the hearing yesterday and argued for freedom because she has become a changed person and wanted 'to live the good life God meant.'
She claimed she was sorry, though continued to say she killed in self-defence.
'If I didn't defend my life, I would have been dead. I'm sorry it happened, but I'm glad I lived, I'm sorry I dismembered him,' she said.
Nelson had put on red shoes, a red hat and red lipstick before chopping up and cooking her husband's body.
The authorities stated she prepared his ribs like in a restaurant and she said aloud, 'It's so sweet.'
But at the parole hearing this week, Nelson shook her head and denied eating her husband.

Not freed: Murderer Omaima Nelson provides letters of support to the parole board during her second failed bid for freedom
'I swear to God I did not eat any part of him. I am not a monster,' she said.
Commissioner Cynthia Fritz then asked, 'What was your purpose in cooking him?'
Nelson declined to answer the question.
Despite her plea a two-person panel of the state Board of Parole found that Nelson, a former model and nanny, continued to be a risk to society.

Case: Orange County District Attorney Randy Pawloski takes notes as Omaima Nelson makes her plea yesterday
Commissioners said she had not accepted full responsibility for the slaying, nor completed educational or vocational programs while incarcerated that would help her lead a productive life outside prison.
Nelson was 'blaming anybody but herself,' deputy commissioner Robert Barese said.
Commissioners cited Nelson's criminal history, including shoplifting, car theft and assault with a firearm, and her failure to abide by prison rules, including violations for fighting, battering a staff member, hiding contraband, stealing, failure to comply with instructions and arguing.
They also found that Nelson had shown a pattern of exchanging sex with older men for money and goods, which in the past had led to violence.

Black widow: Nelson killed her newlywed husband and chopped and cooked his body parts over Thanksgiving weekend in 1991
William Nelson's daughter Margaret Nelson - who was 15 at the time of the murder - gave a long, tearful speech in which she said her father's murder meant he couldn't attend her wedding or meet her eight-week-old daughter.
'I don't have the language to explain the pain of my father not being there,' she said.

Mugshot: Nelson claims her husband raped her the night before she killed him
'I don't know the adequate punishment for a murderer who doesn't even leave a family a body to mourn over. But I do know you don't let her out.'
Nelson will not be eligible to seek parole again for 15 years - the maximum period she can be held without another hearing, the commissioners said.
Nelson sat silently as her plea for parole was rejected.
During the original trial, Nelson told jurors that William, her husband of three weeks, had sexually assaulted and beat her, including over that Thanksgiving weekend, and that she committed the acts in self-defence.
But prosecutors found evidence suggesting that Nelson killed her husband to obtain his money and other property.
She tied up her husband, killed him, decapitated, dismembered and disemboweled the body over the course of a weekend, churning his parts through a garbage disposal that neighbours said ran non-stop in the hours after the murder.
Authorities found some of Nelson's body parts stuffed in bags and mixed with leftover turkey, including a bag containing his entrails on the floor of his Corvette car.
They found the couple's Costa Mesa home had blood pools on the floor, blood-stained sheets and walls, and no evidence of rape.
The man's hands had been fried in oil and his head boiled and stuffed in a freezer.
Nelson denied intending to kill her husband or planning to take his money, but she admitted to stabbing William in the chest and neck with a pair of scissors, striking him with an iron and throwing a lamp at him as he sexually assaulted her.
She said that after the slaying she 'freaked out,' fell into a trance-like state, and spent 12 hours hacking up the body to simplify disposal.
She claimed to have little memory of his dismemberment, but recalled cutting off his penis and his ring finger, cleaning the apartment and packaging the body parts.
Jurors found Nelson not guilty of first-degree murder, citing insufficient evidence of premeditation, but convicted her of second-degree murder. They also found Nelson guilty of assaulting a former boyfriend with a gun.
Nelson appealed but lost in 1995. In 2006, she expressed remorse for killing her husband and sought parole claiming she had found salvation as a born-again Christian.
She had also married an older man from outside prison, who has since died.

Thursday October 6, 2011
TIGER Woods is back in business.
The golfer — who lost a string of endorsement deals following an infidelity scandal — has signed a new deal with watchmaker Rolex.
The endorsement deal was promoted on the company’s website as of early Wednesday evening where Rolex said Woods was joining “the family of Rolex ambassadors” who are chosen for talent, perseverance and passion for the sport.

Rihanna Names New Album 'Talk That Talk' | Doesn't Realize The Word Cunt is Offensive?
Rihanna has revealed the title of her sixth studio album, naming the record Talk That Talk.
The Bajan babe made the announcement on her Facebook page after her Navy unlocked the title, following a series of tasks set by RiRi to tease her forthcoming release.
Her fans have already unlocked some information, including the lyrics to her new single We Found Love, completing "missions" as part of the Rihanna: Unlocked campaign on her official website and Facebook page.
Talk That Talk will follow RiRi's hugely popular fifth LP Loud, which topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic.
The 23-year old beauty recently filmed the video for We Found Love - the first single to be taken from Rihanna's new record - causing controversy after stripping off in a field in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Local farmer Alan Graham was forced to ask the sexy star to cover up, saying he found her raunchy behaviour "inappropriate."
Earlier this week, Rihanna also hit the headlines after telling British Vogue that she doesn't want to be a role model to her fans and didn't realise the swear world 'c**t' was offensive.
Talk That Talk is due for release on 21st November. We can't wait to hear RiRi's new material…
Sta. Rosa City orders all restaurants checked after food poisoning downs 300 |
The city government of Sta. Rosa in Laguna ordered on Thursday the inspection of all food establishments at a popular mall in the city after around 300 teachers and students fell ill allegedly due to food served by a mall restaurant during Tuesday’s Teachers’ Day celebration.
City Mayor Arlene Arcillas said on Thursday that while tests have not confirmed that the food catered by the branch of the restaurant Pancit sa Bilao caused the poisoning, the inspection was called for to ensure the establishments’ compliance with food sanitary measures.
Following a meeting with Department of Education (DepEd) officials and the city government, the restaurant has agreed to shoulder the hospital expenses and promised to provide medical assistance to those affected but were not hospitalized, the lady mayor said.
Arcillas said a food sample was already submitted to the Bureau of Food and Drugs for testing.
None of the teachers have filed a complaint against the restaurant, a regular caterer during city government events and activities, the mayor said.
Around 1,500 elementary and high-school teachers in the city and some students joined the Teachers’ Day program organized by the DepEd at the activity area of a mall on Tuesday. They were served with pancit palabok catered by the Pancit sa Bilao.
The teachers began vomiting and complaining of stomach upset and diarrhea when they got home that day while others suffered the same symptoms by early morning Wednesday, Arcillas said in a phone interview.
A report from the DepEd said 285 people, including 24 students, were initially downed by suspected food poisoning. Forty-six people were taken to the hospitals, of whom 34 were confined until Wednesday.
As of Thursday, Arcillas said 321 teachers and 26 pupils were still “affected” by the poisoning.
“That number should not go up anymore because the doctors said they should have discharged (the toxins) by this time,” Arcillas said.
US envoy won't apologize
MANILA, Philippines - United States Ambassador Harry Thomas Jr. has rejected calls for him to apologize over remarks that 40 percent of male tourists in the Philippines are only after sex with local women and children.
“I’m not going to apologize. I will never apologize for trying to combat child sex. I will never apologize for trying to combat children being forced to labor. I will never apologize for trying to help children in Smokey Mountain,” Thomas said in an interview in his Forbes Park residence in Makati City Thursday evening.
He maintained that he based his assertion on records on the sex trade and child trafficking culled by Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents working with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Thomas has drawn flak for his comments from some politicians, including Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, Sen. Panfilo Lacson and Sen. Miriam Santiago.
“He should at least clarify if he was misquoted by the media for issuing that statement. Otherwise, he should apologize to the Filipino people or pack his bags and go home for being tactless, offensive and undiplomatic,” Lacson said.
“I hope the American ambassador will clarify his statement and explain where he got those statistics. We are not denying that there are American men who come to the Philippines to enjoy their lives because Filipinos are attractive but I don’t think his statistics are correct,” Enrile said for his part.
But Thomas insisted he was not misquoted by the media.
“What is offensive? Is that statement offensive or is the child sex offensive? And why was it offensive?” Thomas asked critics.
He said what’s offensive is children being forced to work as house helpers or women being forced into prostitution.
He cited the rescue of around 100 local girls last year as proof of the prevalence of the sex trade and human trafficking in the country.
He said the US government has deployed FBI agents in the country to work with the NBI in going after individuals engaged in pedophilia and cybersex.
“There are people who could have come here and engaged in sex with underage children and videotaped these. While those DVDs have been burned here and in the US, we will help prosecute them if they are caught. And that’s why we are training the NBI,” Thomas said.
No data
But the Department of Justice (DOJ), which has jurisdiction over the NBI, denied it was in possession of data supporting Thomas’ claims.
“What, we’re a country of sex workers? Don’t all countries have a certain industry engaged in prostitution? But to say there’s that much here, I really don’t know. We can always ask the ambassador to explain the basis of that pronouncement,” Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said.
She called Thomas’ remarks “certainly offensive and demeaning to the image of the nation.”
De Lima revealed that she had already asked Thomas in a letter last Monday to make a clarification.
“It is in this connection that we respectfully request Your Excellency for confirmation of the accuracy of the said news reports, and for the data which provided the basis for the information,” De Lima said in her letter.
“These would go a long way in assisting us in determining with dispatch the investigative and prosecutorial action required,” she said.
“I am confident that Your Excellency is aware that the policies and operations of the Philippine government, including our active participation in international efforts to combat trafficking in persons, have amply demonstrated our determination to prevent, prosecute, and punish the commission of this crime,” she added. The DOJ chief has yet to receive a reply from the US embassy.
“As far as I know, the DOJ does not gather or collate statistics on sex tourists. We don’t have anything like that,” De Lima said.
The DOJ supervises the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT), the primary government body against human trafficking.
“I don’t recall anything or any statistics that the DOJ or IACAT has prepared,” De Lima said.
“At this point, I can say the information did not come from us,” she said.
Thomas made the statement in a roundtable discussion among Court of Appeals justices last month.
At a Senate hearing last Tuesday, Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario quoted Thomas as saying that he got the information from the DOJ.
Adele records new James Bond track
She's warming up her pipes ready to start recording the next James Bond theme.
After her nasty chest infection, Adele used a week off from touring to begin writing the track, which will then be a strong contender to feature in the next spy movie.
She will record the Bond song with her very own Q — trusted right-hand man Paul Epworth.
He's got a track record co-writing and producing songs with epic Bond-like orchestrations, having worked on Plan B's Strickland Banks album and tracks for Florence And The Machine and Cee Lo Green.
A source said: "Adele is the obvious choice to record the next Bond theme. The last few songs for the spy movies have hardly set the charts alight. After her success this year film-makers know the song is almost guaranteed to be a huge hit."
The singer will have to live up to classics by Shirley, Louis Armstrong, Paul McCartney and Tom Jones. But it won't be hard topping Madonna's dodgy Die Another Day effort.
Daniel Craig ... stars in new Bond film due out next yearThe film, starring Daniel Craig, is going by the name Bond 23. It is due out in October next year. Asking Adele to submit a song is a great move.
The team have also hired American Beauty director Sam Mendes to helm the project.
They just need to sort Adele a cameo in a bar scene asking for her favourite drink, "full-fat Coke", to be shaken, not stirred while Bond has a martini.
She'd easily shoot down one of Bond's smooth chat-up lines with her trademark cackle.

Originally released in 1991, Beauty and the Beast is a classic “tale as old as time” that follows the adventures of Belle, a bright young woman imprisoned in the castle of a mysterious beast and his enchanted staff, who must learn the most important lesson of all – that true beauty comes from within. Monsters, Inc. shattered every DVD-era home entertainment sales record when 11 million DVD/VHS copies were sold during its first week of release. It won an Academy Award® for Best Song and has grossed $526.9 million worldwide. Released in 1989, The Little Mermaid, stars Ariel, a fun-loving and mischievous mermaid, off on the adventure of a lifetime with her best friend, the adorable Flounder, and the reggae-singing Caribbean crab Sebastian. But it will take all of her courage and determination to make her dreams come true and save her father’s beloved kingdom from the sneaky sea witch Ursula. One of the most celebrated animated films of all time, The Little Mermaid was nominated for three Academy Awards®, winning two. It has grossed $228.9 million worldwide.
I can’t say that I am at all surprised. The Lion King 3D managed to sit atop the box office for two weeks, raking in MILLIONS. I, for one, am ECSTATIC that Beauty and the Beast will be back in theaters. It is absolutely one of my fave Disney films of all time. I’m curious to see what it will look like in 3D. I’m happy with this news … are you?

LEONARDO DiCaprio and Blake Lively have split up.
The Inception star had been dating the Gossip Girl actress since May and although they have decided to part ways, representatives for both say the pair told Us Weekly they will “remain friends”.
Despite refusing to confirm their relationship in the five months they were dating, Leonardo, 35, and Blake, 24, were spotted on a string of dates throughout the summer including trips on a yacht in Disneyland, California, and a water taxi in Venice, Italy.
Leonardo also treated Blake to a helicopter ride to Saint-Paul de Vence, France for a $500 lunch at La Colombe d’Or Restaurant, a stay at the $5,000-a-night suite at Hotel de Paris and a trip on a $52 million yacht.
Blake even flew to Sydney, Australia in August to celebrate her birthday with the actor, who is shooting his new movie The Great Gatsby in the city.
The couple enjoyed a meal at exclusive restaurant Aria and were seated at one of the eatery’s best tables which boasts a panoramic view of Sydney Harbour.
“[Blake] looked gorgeous and they looked very much like a couple. They seemed to be having a really nice time and were definitely enjoying the view,” a source said.
However, Blake spent last weekend in Boston where she reportedly enjoyed a romantic meal with her Green Lantern costar Ryan Reynolds at sushi palace O Ya in the Leather District.
